  PLAINEDGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The 7TH ANNUAL
PLAINEDGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
MEMORIAL SHOLARSHIP FUND DRIVE

We are proud to announce that our 7th annual
Plainedge Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship fund drive
is now underway for the 2017 graduation year.

The Plainedge Alumni Association Memorial Scholarship
was a dream of the Plainedge Alumni Association officers
from the graduating classes of 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973.

Thank you to all that have donated in the past and
have helped make this Scholarship Fund a continuing success.

This Scholarship is our way of honoring and preserving
the memory of all Plainedge Alumni who have passed away.
Our long term goal is to keep this scholarship program
growing year after year, but
WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP.

Now is your chance, once again, to memorialize your loved one,
friend or sibling by having their name inscribed on
the Scholarship Certificate that is given to a deserving,
graduating, Plainedge HS senior.

All we ask is that you donate whatever you feel you can afford.
We're not really looking for large one-time donations.
We would rather receive small donations on an annual basis.

This Scholarship is awarded to a graduating
Plainedge High School senior who has been accepted to a
local Long Island learning institution.

We are looking to help a student that is in need of financial assistance
and meets our overall criteria. Our long term goal is to keep our
scholarship program growing year after year.

The Plainedge Alumni Association would like to thank you for your
previous donations  over the years to the Memorial Scholarship fund.

It has been a huge success for the past five years, all thanks to you. We are hoping to make this, our 6th year, just as, if not more, successful. But, once again we can only do that with your help.

Our previous Scholarship winners were:

 2011 - Samantha Davis

2012 – Minas Ioannou

2013 – Patricia Ioannou
(yes, Patrica is the sister of Minas, our 2012 winner!)
As is our custom, the winner from the previous year presents the award to the current winner. Minas had no idea who this year’s recipient was until he opened the envelope. Imagine his surprise when he read his sister’s name!

2014 – Jessica Feldhusen

2015 - ALANA WEISENBERG

The Plainedge Alumni Memorial Scholarship was awarded Thursday, June 4, 2015 to Alana Weisenberg. Alana is well deserving of the award and fit our criteria perfectly.

This year we had an unusual twist to the award.

We found out the night of the award ceremony, Alana is the daughter of a fellow Plainedge alumni, Steve Weisenberg who graduated in 1973 and passed away in 2000. It was a good feeling that the award went to a perfect young lady with very deep roots in the Plainedge community.

Once again, this would not be possible without the help of all of you that donated. We can't thank you enough and I hope you all look forward to contributing next year as much as we look forward to organizing this. You're good people giving back to your community.

Donna Yorio (1972) , award winner Alana Weisenberg (2015), Faith Weisenberg (Alana's mother and Steve's wife) and last year's recipient Jessica Feldhusen (2014) Alana's father, Steve Weisneberg (as pictured in 1973 yearbook) who passed away in 2000.

2016 Winner - Monaca Marquez

All six students were well deserving recipients,
Along with the scholarship, they also received a plaque and certificate
bearing the names of those that you chose to memorialize.

We are once again asking you to contribute to this scholarship in the names of your loved ones. As always, we are hoping to make this year’s scholarship drive bigger and better then last year’s with several ideas we are contemplating.
