DET. BRIAN MOORE MEMORIAL STATUE FUND

The Community Needs Your Help...

When we first heard the horrible news about Det. Brian Moore

being shot on duty, we, as a community, held our breath

waiting to hear of his condition. When we heard of his passing,

again as a community we came together and prayed for him and

his family. We painted our towns blue. We cried at his funeral.

Now we need the community to come together once again

to help honor and remember Brian.

After a tremendous outouring of requests from the Plainedge

community to do something to honor Brian, on July 11th,

at the opening ceremonyof the Plainedge Youth League

Brian Moore Memorial Baseball Tournament,

Supervisor John Venditto announced the Town of Oyster Bay would

be commissioning a life-size statue with Brian’s likeness,

which will be placed in Plainedge Park (the old Packard site)

by the flag pole between the

baseball fields and children’s play area.

The Plainedge Alumni Association is working collaboratively

with the Town of Oyster Bay and the Plainedge Community

to help cover the cost of the statue, which is expected

to be in the neighborhood of $35,000.

Town of Oyster Bay Special Counsel Tom Sabellico,

who is also a Plainedge Alumni, reached out to the Plainedge

Alumni Association asking if we could help spread the

word to the Community and Alumni to help in the

fundraising effort in the form of sponsorships and donations.

As an officer of the Plainedge Alumni Association, I have volunteered

to collect the donations which will then be delivered to Tom at the

TOB offices. If you wish to contribute to this effort,

here is how you can make donations:

     •   Check should be made payable to Town of Oyster Bay.
     •   In Memo area, please put “For Brian Moore Statue Fund”
